BENRIACH DISTILLERY
Founded in 1898 by whisky pioneer John Duff, Benriach was established during a golden era for Scotch whisky. Built on the old Riach farm in northern Speyside, the distillery was designed by Charles Chree Doig and strategically placed near a railway line and the River Lossie. Just two years later, production ceased, and for decades Benriach’s maltings supplied its neighbour, Longmorn. Despite its silence, the site’s potential endured. In 1965, amid renewed global demand—particularly from the U.S.—Benriach was revived by Glenlivet Distillers Ltd. The relaunch preserved the distillery’s original character while ushering in a new era of single malt production. Today, Benriach is celebrated for its resilience, heritage, and distinctive Speyside spirit—an enduring legacy of Duff’s original vision.

BOWMORE DISTILLERY
Founded in 1779, Bowmore is one of Scotland’s oldest whisky distilleries, located in the village of Bowmore on Islay. As the island’s first licensed distillery, it holds a significant place in whisky history. The distillery was established by John P. Simpson, who purchased the land in 1766. After several changes in ownership, it was modernised by the Mutter family in 1837. Despite challenges during the Great Depression and two World Wars, Bowmore maintained production. In 1980, Queen Elizabeth II visited Bowmore—her first tour of a Scottish distillery. Since 2014, it has been part of Beam Suntory. Bowmore is renowned for its traditional floor malting and peat-smoking methods. Barley is soaked in River Laggan water, floor-malted, and dried over peat fires. Maturation in bourbon and sherry casks imparts complexity and depth to its spirit.
